Hey everyone,

Our chapter met for our August chapter meeting last Tuesday, August 22. 7 members attended, including 5 people who stutter and 2 SLPs (and including one new member!)

We introduced ourselves and each talked about how our summer has been going. Next, we moved on to our discussion topic for the month, for which we decided to return to our topic from last month-acceptance. Some topics that emerged in our discussion were:
-accepting that we will stutter for our entire lives was a big turning point for many of us (letting go of a “cure”)
-beginning to talk to others about stuttering was a significant step in creating acceptance for many of us
-we discussed the question, ‘if you could take a pill to eliminate stuttering, would you?’ and related questions about how stuttering has shaped our lives. Many of us could point to both positive and challenging aspects of our lives with stuttering. This was a lively time in the discussion!

This was another great discussion. Thanks to all who came and shared your unique perspective!

Our next chapter event will be a Chat and Chew on Sunday, September 10th at Central Market North at 1pm. I will send another e-mail with details soon. Our next chapter meeting will be on Tuesday, September 26th. I hope to see you at a chapter event soon!

Take care,

Jonathan
