Special Guest Speaker: Mr. Steven Kaufman! “Unleash Your Stuttering Superstar!”

Steven Kaufman is a stuttering rock star who has presented all over the country to inspire people who stutter. He has earned several well-deserved NSA awards:

• Regional Chapter Coordinator, 2017
• Member of the Year, 2010
• Volunteer of the Year, 2008

Steven is an example of what it means to show perseverance under the most trying of circumstances. A lifelong person who stutters, Steven never let his speech stand in the way of accomplishing his goals such as graduating from college, until one day his speech deteriorated to the point where he could not even say his own name. Driving home from junior college, Steven hit rock bottom that day and tried to take his own life. After putting everything back together that shattered, Steven earned his journalism degree magna cum laude and began working for a newspaper-but his stuttering emerged worse than ever, leading him to be turned down for a job he wanted.

That was the last time Steven vowed he’d ever miss out on anything again. Using his stuttering as a positive force, Steven made it a priority to share a story about how people with disabilities have extraordinary gifts. A new member of the “Aspie” community, Steven uses his unique and humorous experiences of stuttering and Asperger’s to inspire, motivate, and help others realize their goals. Steven is truly a “D-I-V-A,” a dynamite individual who is very awesome!
