In June’s meeting, we wrote each other anonymous questions about the future, and then posed them to the group. We then dived into the past, reading and discussing the story of Demosthenes, an ancient Greek orator who (probably) stuttered. Taking a cue from mythology, we then discussed the idea of the “giant in chains.” This refers to the belief that if we could change one thing about ourselves, then all our problems would go away and we would realize great potential. We finished by sharing things we appreciated about one another while forming a web of yarn. This helped us physically see the connections between us and bring to close the 2016-17 run of meetings.
