We had a new member attend our 4/5/16 meeting. We started off with introductions and discussed numerous topics throughout the meeting. It was an enjoyable night filled with plenty of reminiscing. We discussed speaking roles at jobs and if and when we avoid speaking. We also discussed past avoidance behaviors while growing up as people who stutter. One member discussed a recent presentation he gave and started a discussion on what public speaking is like as a person who stutters. The efficacy of therapy was thoroughly discussed as a member received therapy in the 1950s and commented on his experiences. A majority of those who attended the meeting also attended our chapter’s 3rd Annual Don’t Tell Me To Slow Down 5k Walk/Run. We discussed the race and how successful it was. Thank you to all those that attended and made the meeting great.

I would also like to take a moment to thank Kyle Pelkey for the time he devoted to serving our chapter, the National Stuttering Association, and our community as a co-chapter leader and a race coordinator for the 2nd and 3rd annual 5k walk/runs. Tuesday’s meeting was Kyle’s last as co-chapter leader. Thank you Kyle!! You have certainly made an impact on me and I’m sure you have had an impact on everyone who has attended meetings that you led.

Our next meeting will be on April 19th at 7:00pm. Come and see what our chapter is all about!! Thank you!
