This Month’s Spotlight of the Month honors Josh Sniderman!

Josh is 23 years old and is originally from Dallas, Texas, where he lived until he was 18 and then moved to Denton to attend the University of North Texas. Josh has worked a number of odd jobs throughout his life, ranging from a music arranger at the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, to a doggie day-camper at Petsmart. He is currently working as an accountant at a Denton based nonprofit aimed at rehabilitating rescued animals to help them find their future forever-homes. When he is not working or studying, Josh can usually be found playing music, binging a show on Netflix, reading, playing with his dog, practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, speaking at Toastmasters, or out on town with his bestie Wyatt McReynolds.

Josh has been involved with the National Stuttering Association since 2010, and with the Dallas Chapter since 2016. Throughout his life, Josh has held many leadership positions with various local chapters and related organizations, including the Dallas TWST group and the Callier Center for Communication Disorders based ‘Tricks for Talking’ summer camp. Since 2017, he has been serving as the Financial and Fundraising Officer of the Dallas Chapter, and is always patiently awaiting his next assignment from Sivan and David! Although his stutter is quite mild, Josh has chosen to stay involved with the organization purely out of love for all the people he has met through this journey. Josh has been overwhelmed by the support and comradery he has found through his time with the NSA, from the annual conferences with people from all over the nation, to the chapters with people from his home in North Texas. Josh continues to support the members and friends he has found through this organization, for they have taught him not only how to love and accept each other, but also how to love and accept ourselves, which in many ways is a much more challenging battle.

Next time you see Josh, ask him to play something on the piano! He will act embarrassed, but he secretly loves the attention.
