This Month’s Spotlight of the Month honors Nina Reeves!

Nina Reeves is a veteran human who was born and raised in Illinois. She knew she wanted to be a Speech-Language Pathologist at the age of 9, and has been living that dream for over 30 years. When she isn’t working with people who stutter, she is consulting with other SLP’s and traveling the U.S. presenting about professional developments in fluency disorders. In her free time, she enjoys running, cycling and well, reading and writing about fluency disorders, and hanging out with her husband (our own Lee Reeves) and grown children. She is an Italophile, presently learning (and relearning) Italian so that she can speak with her relatives during visits to Italy! A fun-fact about Nina is that she can organize anything within an inch of its life. She is an avid cat-lover (resident cat Libby), but not a “cat lady”, who loves to travel and dance with her wonderful spouse any chance she can get!

Nina joined the NSA in 1996, prior to attending her first conference in Denver. She credits the NSA for helping her to understand stuttering at a deeper level, and the experiential learning of NSA involvement has helped her to be a better SLP. Since joining the NSA, she has been a part of the leadership and has most enjoyed working with the family programs arm of the NSA.  She has been a board member in the areas of Professional Relations, Fund Development, and Family Programs. She has also been on the advisory board of the NSA since its inception. The lessons Nina has learned are many, but most notably, she has learned that small gatherings (such as running many Family Fun Days) can make a huge impact in the lives of those affected by stuttering. Nina has not missed a conference since 1996, and her favorite part of the NSA has been meeting and marrying Lee Reeves!

Next time you see Nina ask her the Italian word for stuttering!
