The Duluth Minnesota Chapter of the National Stuttering Association met on Wednesday, September 16th.  There were seven people in attendance, which included two people who stutter and four CSD students. One of the people that stuttered was brand new to the group.

This was the first formal meeting of the school year.  A few of the members had met informally over the summer for dinner and outdoor concerts.

The group started out with introductions and catching up on each other’s lives, and then brainstormed topics and ideas for future meetings.

During the second half of the meeting, Derrick talked about the Toastmasters program and how it had helped him become more comfortable with public speaking. He showed the group some of the books and newsletters that come from being a Toastmasters member. A few of videos were shown, including a video of Derrick and one of his former Vermont NSA members giving their first Toastmasters speech.

The next meeting will be Wednesday, October 24th.
