Our Meeting Recaps

Summer Groups!

Hi Team!
No support groups until July 12th (adult) and July 14th (school-age/teen), so happy early 4th of July!
We’re sending one leader to the National Stuttering Association (NSA) Conference in Atlanta next week, and our chapter has two gift cards that were donated for the NSA — thanks much!  We’re sure to bring back lots of ideas to our support groups after meeting so many enthusiastic people who stutter there!
Maybe we can get a small crew to go next year?
In the meantime, we are excited to see our friend, Sergio, and his band (Still Kickin’) play in Waterbury this Thursday at a free concert on the green (6PM).

Also, looking forward to our third annual “flash mob” to wrap up the Summer “Camp” — ALL members of the stuttering community are invited to join us at 5:15 at Ben & Jerry’s on Church Street in Burlington.
Hope to see you there– Go Team!

Research Opportunity for Adults who Stutter

We are seeking individuals who stutter and are between the ages of 18 and 30 to participate in a research study on the effect of different speaking situations on the voice. The study will take place in Pomeroy Hall at the University of Vermont and will take about 1 hour. Participants will receive $20 compensation.
Interested parties can contact Dr. Barry Guitar at: bguitar@med.uvm.edu

Spring Support Groups!

Check out support group member, Kyme, on this WCAX news segment from April 8th — way to “go for it” with cameras rolling! She self-advertised as a person who stutters several times too, but it didn’t make the final tv cut.

Terrific example of taking on a super intimidating speaking situation with grace– bravo, Kyme!

We’ve had a lot of active support groups this spring, with adult mentors joining the teen group, cookie-decorating in the school-age group, and “Amigos” joining the adult groups and cheering on a member playing/singing at Radio Bean — looking forward to meeting new members, so feel free to get in touch!

Go Team!
