To kick off our May meeting, the group opened by playing “Two Truths and a Lie”, as a way to get to know each other better. Afterwards, we launched into talking about the idea of stuttering being like an iceberg, having a visible portion, but a much larger underwater, non-visible portion. The people who stutter shared with the group what makes up the obvious part of their stuttering “iceberg”, and what feelings, thoughts, and emotions make up the underwater/hidden part of their iceberg. From here we came to the topic of the job interview and stuttering and members shared how they had approached job interviews in their past. We ended with a discussion of various metaphors we could use to describe a moment of stuttering. All in all, our May meeting contained a lot of good discussion and quite a few laughs. We look forward to our next meeting in June!
